Consequences for our choices

In the video i have on Youtube video featuring my daughter Kellie (http://www.youtube.com/seadaddy101/dontdrinkanddrive), i talk about consequences for your choices affecting the lives of others. I make a plea to people to be responsible. Christ is asking the same from us. He wants us to take care of ourselves and our brothers and sisters, and others around us. Matthew 22:36-40 (NKJV)

“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”

Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” So knowing our responsibiIity
and our “role” in life, we can begin to move forward toward that goal of being able to handle EVERYTHING with love. I realized that Mathew Moore (the man that killed my daughter Kellie) wasn’t doing anything differently than myself, he was just out “having a good ol’ time” and then bam! His “choices” had devastating consequences on innocent people. I had just been lucky up until that point, i realized i had drawn many long straws compared to Mr. Moore. So many other people just like Mathew Moore and myself were choosing to “have fun” and party, never thinking there would be devastating consequences for our selfish acts. I realized that the problem was huge, so many people with “selfish” behavior all out for number one. How do we change such a huge problem? I was determined to find an answer. I couldn’t stand the thought of another family suffering the horror our family was experiencing. I found a pretty simple solution through prayer and study of Gods word. I read about this incredible man they called Jesus. His life was full of sacrificial service to others. In everything he did, there was love. He gave mercy, kindness, forgiveness, and love to all that sought Him, and He still does. So here i was, knowing my “duty” as a Christian and now had a foundation for my new life of good choices, and i knew there was sacrifice and even the possibility of prison or death involved in serving God. I knew this because i’ve read about the lives of these great men and women of God and knew that i was to emulate their lives as a fellow Christian. They sacrificed, they served. People were loving one another, caring for those around them, it caught on big and spread around the globe. In many ways people have lost that simple message from God. If Mathew Moore had been living his life loving and caring for others, that night would have never happened. I couldn’t change the choices Mathew Moore made, but i could change my choices, and i did. I made a choice to step away from the life i had chosen for myself and do what Christ has instructed us all to do. I changed myself and am still changing, i’m also working on those around me to help them make better choices with their lives. Then i will teach them to do the same with their family and friends. That is how we change our communities, that is how we change society, that is how we change the world! Is it huge? yes, but not impossible. It starts with you. It is very important to reach out to others and show that sacrificial love to. That is how they experience Christ is through us, loving, forgiving, and giving grace and mercy to them. Are you gonna suffer for it? Did Christ? Yes and yes, but our sacrifice doesn’t matter because this isn’t our home. We are simply soldiers for Christ that have been sent away from home to battle evil with good, it’s as simple as that. We have the free will to choose, good choices or bad choices, selfish or selfless, loving and sacrificing or hateful and greedy. If your making both good and bad choices then you are still part of the problem, that’s why it is important to understand Christs mercy and forgiveness. We will never reach perfection but we should ALL strive for it. It changes you. Every step i make toward Him, He blesses me. I am not perfect, but Christ loves me. Others around me aren’t perfect but i will love them Just like Christ loves me. Everything i needed to move forward was given to me through love. I was able to forgive Mathew Moore because Christ forgave me of my awful sins that i never got caught for. We are all the same, we all have free will and we all make our own choices. If more “Christians” would step up and start acting like Christ, it would change the world. Are you willing to commit to a better life today? Have you had enough of all the horrible things in this world? Are you willing to pick up your cross and suffer to serve those around you? Are you willing to be the difference you want to see? It is as simple as making a decision to do it, and then start doing it. The apostle Paul was a great example after Christ. He was always on the move for God, suffering, sacrificing and teaching others to do the same in the name of God, all of his Christian walk he sacrificed and he endured till the end! 2 Timothy 4:7-8 (NKJV)

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

Paul was not a slacker. He went out and sought those in need, he cared for those around him, he sacrificed. You don’t read about these men getting anything to serve their selfish desires. That is the life they put aside and now allowed Christ to live through them. That is what we do, put our selfish lives aside and serve God the way He intended. Don’t make a mockery out of Christianity and call yourself a Christian if you’re not living by the example laid before you through the word and life of God Himself. This isn’t for sissy’s and whimps, it is a true battle of good and evil and we are feeding one beast or the other Which one are you feeding with your choices? The battle is real, our choices have consequences, good and bad.

I pray for our brothers and sisters sacrificing for the Lord. I pray that more people will start making choices out of love instead of selfishness. I cant wait to go home and see the Lord. Meanwhile, i will continue to serve Him and live the way He showed us all to live. Read Matthew 25:31-46 and ask yourself if you measure up. Go be the difference my friends.
